Why this page suits ages 4–5
A train is a sequence, and sequences are worth noticing at four:
- carriages in a row — the same shape repeated in order,
- large driving wheels — circles with connecting rods,
- a funnel with smoke — soft curls at the top, the freest part of the page.
💬 Tip for grown-ups
Count the carriages, then ask which is first and which is last. Ordinal words — first, second, last — are easiest to learn on something lined up in front of you.
