Why this page suits ages 3–4
Stripes do something no other shape does at this age:
- clear bands across the body — each one a separate small area,
- alternating colours — the first pattern a child can hold in their head,
- round wings — soft shapes to finish on.
💬 Tip for grown-ups
Do the first two stripes together, then stop and ask what colour comes next. Predicting the next step in a pattern is exactly what maths lessons will ask for later.
