Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?

A is made of straight lines only – down, across or slanted. A child knows those from pre-writing sheets, which is why straight-line capitals come first.

  • Strokes: slant down to the left, slant down to the right, then a bar across.
  • The model shows stroke order and direction: top to bottom and left to right, the way print is taught in school.
  • The words ANT and APPLE give the letter a sound and a meaning – trace them and read them together.

💬 Tip for parents

Say the sound out loud (“A as in ant”) and let your child trace the model with a finger before picking up a crayon. Watch the direction, not the neatness: top to bottom, left to right. Five minutes and one sheet is enough.
