Big circles to trace – warm-up exercise, ages 3–4

Four big circles filling an A4 page. The path is 13 mm wide, enough for a thick triangular crayon. The child starts at the brown dot at the top and goes counter-clockwise all the way back to it.

In the print dialog choose actual size (100 %) and black and white. Add a thick triangular crayon.

Why is this sheet for ages 3–4?

Circling with the whole arm from the shoulder – the movement every warm-up before writing starts with.

  • Circles 58 mm across – the arm moves from the shoulder, not the fingers.
  • A 13 mm wide path: precision doesn't count, the smooth movement does.
  • Counter-clockwise, the same direction as the letters a, c and o.

💬 Tip for parents

Show the movement in the air first, then with a finger on the paper, before the crayon comes out. Let the child go around each circle three times without lifting the hand. If the hand stops halfway, that's fine – just carry on.
