Why is this sheet for ages 5–6?

O has a curve. A curve needs a smooth stroke and more finger control than a straight line, so it comes after the straight-line capitals.

  • Strokes: one oval that starts at the top and circles back to the left, all the way around.
  • The model shows stroke order and direction: top to bottom and left to right, the way print is taught in school.
  • The words OWL, ONE and ORANGE give the letter a sound and a meaning – trace them and read them together.

💬 Tip for parents

One sheet, five minutes, a thick triangular crayon. If O is in your child's name or a family member's, say so – it will matter more at once. Praise starting at the dot and following the arrow, not how the letter looks.
