Why is this sheet for ages 5–6?

Cutting out a shape means following a closed line back to where you began. Everything so far comes together: straight line, corner and curve.

  • A closed shape: cutting all the way round.
  • Corners (square, triangle, house) and a smooth curve (circle).
  • The shapes can be arranged and glued into a picture.

💬 Tip for parents

First cut the shapes roughly apart; a smaller piece of paper is easier to handle. The circle is the hardest, so leave it till last. Build a house, a rocket or a figure from the shapes and glue it down.
