Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?

The second half of the small alphabet, including the tails of p, q and y.

  • Thirteen letters n–z, each one three times in its row.
  • Four letters with a tail below the baseline: p, q, y and j before them.
  • 17 mm tall between three lines, three goes at every letter.

💬 Tip for parents

The pair p and q is the same trap as b and d – practise them on different days. With v and w let the child lift the pencil between strokes; slanted lines are still hard at this age. Do the row with a letter from the child's name first and the rest comes easier.
