Ages 3–4✏️ Pre-writing
Car to the garage – tracing lines for ages 3–4
Four wide roads that take the car all the way to the garage. Straight, wavy, zigzag and bouncy – the child drives the pencil left to right in one stroke.
Done — the sheet is in your downloads
In the print dialog choose actual size (100 %) and black and white. Add a thick triangular crayon.
Why is this sheet for ages 3–4?
At three, the hand is only learning to guide a line on purpose. A wide track allows a big, relaxed movement of the whole arm – exactly what this age needs.
- Left-to-right direction – the same as reading and writing later.
- Four line shapes on one sheet: straight, wave, zigzag, arches.
- The car and garage give the stroke a purpose – the child is driving, not practising.
💬 Tip for parents
At three it is about a big, loose movement of the whole arm, not precision. Thick triangular crayon, paper taped to the table, feet on the floor. 3–5 minutes is plenty. Praise the effort (“you drove the whole way!”), not whether the line stayed inside the track.
