Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?

A loop is the heart of joined-up writing – one circle leads into the next without a stop.

  • Four rows, upper and lower loops – both appear in joined-up writing.
  • Loops of the same size side by side: the hand keeps a rhythm.
  • A long 126 mm stroke without lifting the pencil.

💬 Tip for parents

Rhythm helps: count out loud “and one, and two” for each loop. If the loops get tangled, do fewer and bigger ones in a row. It's worth trying on a big sheet of paper or a whiteboard first.
