Ages 4–5🧮 Counting
Draw as many dots as the number says (1–5)
The task turned around: the number is given and the child makes the amount, drawing as many dots as the number says.
Done — the sheet is in your downloads
In the print dialog choose actual size (100 %) and black and white. Add a thick triangular crayon.
Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?
Making an amount from a numeral is harder than counting pictures that are already there. The child has to read the number, hold it in mind and stop drawing in time.
- From numeral to amount – the reverse of the usual “count these”.
- The child checks the result alone by counting again.
- Instead of dots: circles, tally lines or stickers.
💬 Tip for parents
If your child draws too many dots, let them count and compare with the number. They usually spot the mistake themselves. Play the same game at the table: “Pass me four spoons.”
