Ages 3–4✂️ Cutting practice
Cutting straight lines for ages 3–4
Six straight lines from the edge of the paper up to a picture. The child makes several snips in a row on each one.
Done — the sheet is in your downloads
In the print dialog choose actual size (100 %) and black and white. Add a thick triangular crayon.
Why is this sheet for ages 3–4?
After single snips come several in a row: open, shut, move forward. The line is straight and sits on a wide grey band, so small slips don't matter.
- Snips in a row – the scissors travel along the line.
- The grey band says that precision is not the goal yet.
- The picture at the end is the destination: “cut to the flower”.
💬 Tip for parents
The helper hand holds the paper just beside the line and moves along with the scissors. If the paper tears instead of cutting, the scissors are closing too soon – show how to open them wide. Two or three lines are enough; leave the rest for tomorrow.
