Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?

Completing a picture along an axis links visual-spatial perception with guiding a line. It is one of the tasks that appears at school readiness checks – here in a version for younger children, with hints.

  • A house of straight lines as an easy start, then round shapes.
  • Grey hint dots = the child succeeds first time.
  • Trains seeing “the same, just mirrored” – the basis for telling b from d.

💬 Tip for parents

Symmetry links visual-spatial perception with guiding a line. First let the child run a finger along the axis and the left half, then draw. Precision is not the goal — the goal is understanding “the same, just mirrored”. If it is hard, start with the house (straight lines).
