Rain in the wind – diagonal lines both ways for ages 4–5
Two clouds, two directions of wind. Raindrops fly diagonally down to the right and down to the left – the child practises both slants. An umbrella to color below.

Why is this sheet for ages 4–5?
The diagonal line is the last of the basic strokes a child masters confidently – usually between four and five. Both directions side by side teach the hand to change the slant on purpose.
- Diagonals down-right and down-left – telling the slant.
- Short strokes with a precise target.
- An autumn motif to color as a reward.
💬 Tip for parents
Diagonal lines usually depend on how the child sits and holds the paper. A slightly turned sheet (top-left corner higher for right-handers, top-right for left-handers) helps the stroke. If one direction is harder, that is normal — practise it more.
