Why is this sheet for ages 3–4?

A wave is a smooth stroke without corners – it trains the shoulder and wrist working together. Shrinking waves make the hand refine the movement gradually.

  • A smooth stroke without lifting the pencil – the basis of cursive later.
  • Three wave sizes = progression on one sheet.
  • Hissing like a snake (“sssss”) links breath to movement and calms.

💬 Tip for parents

Let the child hiss like a snake while drawing — a long exhale naturally slows and smooths the stroke. Lifting the pencil is fine; the goal is to eventually manage the whole wave in one go.
