Why is this sheet for ages 3–4?

A child can tell “more” from “less” before they can count. The sheet starts with differences you can see at a glance; counting helps with the closer ones.

  • More and less are among the first math words.
  • The groups always differ by at least two, so the difference shows even without counting.
  • Same picture in both boxes: the child compares amounts, not kinds.

💬 Tip for parents

Ask “which has more?” and then “which has less?”. Try the last row the other way round. Carry on at the table: who has more peas on the plate? To check, pair the items up – what is left over is the “more”.
